Madonna Saturday-Rabbit Leopold

30 years ago today, on October 6th 1982-Rock & Roll began a new chapter-the Madonna Age when the dance anthem "Everybody" was unleashed around the world.  From the onset, Rock Critics embraced Madonna and with the song's clarion call and hopeful message "Everybody!/Dance and Sing!/Get up and do your thing!"-it was a song we all needed and wanted to hear.  Back in 1982, Both America and Britain were caught in the reign of terror that were Ronald Reagan and Maggie Thatcher.  For us, the youth had spoken.   Loudly.  Here was a singer who wasn't afraid to express herself through song and dance.  Madonna was her name and happily, the world changed because of her.  Congrats, Madge!

Madonna Song of the Day-Beat Goes On from Hard Candy
-Lyric quote from Lady Ciccone/Peron/Simpson via Kanye West-"It's time for you to celebrate!/Get up, Little Girl (Lola)/It's time, your world!/Your life, your choice!/It's time, live it up!/On and on/On the beat goes/On and on!/You don't have the luxury of time/You have got to say what's on your mind/Here comes my hand/Take it you can/The time is now/I'll show you how!/Say what you like/Do what you feel/You know exactly who you are/The time is right now/You've got to decide/There ain't no time to lose!/Be the star!"
-Like Angel, Secret, You Must Love Me, Nothing Really Matters, Little Star and What It Feels Like for a Girl before it and Superstar after it, Beat Goes On is clearly a song to Lola and it is clear that mother Madonna loves her brilliant teenager.  One of the best songs about mother/daughter friendship.  Madonna and Lola, I salute you both!
